God speaks to us in a variety of ways. Unless we choose to listen, we may never hear Him. He may not speak in an audible voice, but, He is speaking all the same. Some may question the possibility of this statement. Yet, there are those who hear His voice on a daily basis. How is God speaking to those who hear?
First and foremost, He “speaks” very specifically through His Word, the Holy Bible. We must read and study the Word or we miss a great opportunity to hear Him speak. However, there are times when we make excuses for not “listening”. Perhaps, like me, you found the Old Testament hard to read. I know that I was lost trying to remember who beget whom.
My solution was to enter the basic information into my computer generations program. As I did this, my study became more enjoyable and easier to understand. I was, at that point, captivated and determined to continue until I compiled the Old Testament family tree. I love Bible study and I love puzzles. This project combined the two and took more than six winters to complete. It was a labor of love and with the help of God I published a unique Bible study guide, “The Cast of Characters as recorded in the Old Testament”. This book is the genealogical report of God's "chosen family.” It is an easy reference for all. The Old Testament takes on a new light as the “characters” take their place on the stage. Whatever the tool, we must continue to read and study His Word. For, within these pages, we hear the voice of God.
